Glen Cove Evacuation Planning

The Board of Glen Cove Community Association is here for our neighbors!

On June 22, 2022, GCCA held a Community Meeting with VFD and VPD which included information about AlertSolano.com and evacuation procedures in case of fires or other natural disasters.

Here is the first part of the meeting for those who were not able to attend:

As residents of Glen Cove and having survived a few fires, there is always the chance for that one fire that cannot be stopped.  We have seen that all over California in the past few years.  We have a real need for a comprehensive plan for exiting Glen Cove. In close conjunction with the Vallejo Fire Department (VFD), Fire Chief Long and the GCCA, a plan has been put into action. This is not a plan of mass exodus out of Glen Cove, but one of controlled evacuation.

Alert Solano has been enhanced to provide pinpoint cell phone calling to prescribed areas. Your phone may ring advising you to evacuate the area and another street may receive a call to Shelter in Place, but be prepared to evacuate. This will control the traffic leaving Glen Cove. We do not want a traffic jam on the Parkway leaving everyone stuck in traffic. VFD will deploy a Mobile Command Center to monitor evacuation as needed. Given that, it is very important for you and your family to be subscribed to Alert Solano.

After meeting with VFD Chief Long, GCCA is rolling out the following step needed in case of a wildfire/natural disaster here in Glen Cove. This is a very important process that can save your life and the lives of your family and all the other families in Glen Cove.

Procedure:  Any evacuation will be done by areas most threatened by the fire. This will be determined by VFD Command Center. All other areas are to shelter in place and await further instructions. This plan was best determined for Glen Cove based on our street configuration. This will allow for swift exiting of the most threatened areas first, also allowing for easier access of emergency response vehicles.

All information will be communicated via “Alert Solano”. This is a system that will call the cell phones of each area as needed.    You need to register for “Alert Solano” by following this link. Then, from the search bar on the left go to:

Follow the instructions and put in all your information as required.
