GCCA is Advocating for Your Landscape/Maintenance Assessments at City Council!

At the June 13, 2023 Vallejo City Council meeting, Joseph Hayden, President of GCCA, spoke on behalf of the organization. Our board is made up of volunteers representing 3,000 households in Glen Cove. Residents pay about $1,000,000 a year for our Landscape Maintenance District (LMD) and City of Vallejo resources to inspect the contractor’s work. That’s $30,000 a month, but for many months there is no work done. GCCA was told that sometimes the contractor doesn’t find enough people to work for some months. However, THE CONTRACTOR STILL GETS PAID. We’re hoping exposing this to daylight has triggered a change toward accountability and visibility, perhaps for all LMD’s in our city.

Brazen Theft of Glen Cove Mail Keys

Residents – There was a brazen theft of mail keys in Glen Cove on Thursday, February 2, 2023 around 1:46pm. GCCA is working with elected officials, the VPD and the post office inspector on finding a resolution, as well as informing the press.

The robbery occurred at New Bedford Drive and Pueblo Way / Court. The keys were taken from the postal employee. They then ran towards Pueblo Way. Per the Postmaster for the Springstowne Post Office on Admiral Callaghan, they DID NOT recalibrate or change ANY locks or keys for all the cluster mailboxes in 94591. At this time there are no plans to do so.

Postman’s description of the two offenders: Two males:

Male #1 Caucasian 5’10”-6” thin plaid black and white jacket 170 lbs. white athletic shoes

Male#2 5’8”-5’10” 160 lbs. medium build, dark jacket black shoes with faded blue jeans

Please continue to pick up your mail daily. Do not leave your mail in cluster mailboxes overnight.

The Post Office’s advice is: Monitor all your credit cards and bank statements for fraudulent activity.
You can go on the Postal website for further information on fraudulent activity and identity theft.

ALSO:
Anyone with security camera video from the area described above around 1:46pm on February 2, please contact US Postal Inspector at 877 876-2455.

If residents with security cameras near ANY cluster mailbox observe non-postal, un-uniformed individuals opening cluster mailbox panels, report that to the Postmaster Inspector at 877 876-2455 and Vallejo Police Department with a reference of police case #23-13
